Thinking globally. Acting locally.
WHO WE ARE
Melbourne University Global Health Society (MUGHS), established in 2020, is a student-operated club seeking to educate, train and immerse students from all disciplines in issues surrounding public health. We believe that in order to meaningfully improve our society's health, we must educate students on the different facets of public health and empower them with the knowledge and tools to act to promote them. With the ethos of "thinking globally, acting locally", our education and outreach teams work to provide interactive workshops, volunteering projects and fundraisers with an emphasis on involving our community organisations.
WE AIM TO
promote the health and wellbeing of developing communities, in Australia and overseas
Increase awareness of social and health related injustices around the world in Australian students
Provide opportunities for students to engage with global health efforts: thinking globally and acting locally
WAYS WE HELP
Aimed to educate and share a deeper understanding of global health issues.
Create opportunities for participants to connect more with the local community.
Contribute to partner organisations and spread awareness for global health issues.
This year, our the global health issue of focus is Displaced Communities.
A displaced person is someone who has been forced to leave their home or country due to war or oppression (ie. refugees).
We aim to explore the reasons why people become displaced, how this impacts their health, and what can be done to help.
